It would be a shame to keep a large collection of books in a disorganized heap. Even if you sort them neatly on shelves, it can be difficult to review your entire collection. DJOBooks gives you the possibility of cataloging your books in a digital database. It allows you to assign any information you want to individual books, add cover arts and much more.

DJOBooks is distributed as a freeware application and it doesn't need to be installed. All you have to do is extract its files from a ZIP archive and run its executable. The application is compatible with 32 and 64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Win 7 and Win 8 and its hardware requirements are modest.

The software comes with a large number of predefined book entries, to help you get started. You can add your own books in the existing database or create a new one from scratch. All books are displayed as thumbnails of their actual covers, along with their titles and authors. The available options, from the application's toolbar, can be used to create new books, edit or delete existing ones, to import book information from a local folder, to export the entire library and more.

New book entries are defined on a separate window, on which you must fill in a series of input fields, on several tabs. You can specify any information you want, from the book's title to its format and dimensions. It is also possible to attach images as front and back covers and use them as thumbnails to represent books, on the main user interface.

DJOBooks really shines when it comes to assigning information to a book. Authors, genres, publishers and tags can be stored on separate tables, with pictures. When you type an author's name or other details, the application will display suggestions. If the author's name is already in the database, you can just click its name to insert it. Furthermore, if you don't have a book's covers as images on the hard drive, you can just click a button and let the application search for images on the Internet.

The best part is that DJOBooks allows you to create entire book entries, by retrieving information from the Internet. You just need to type a title and an author on a small window and the application will find all the information you need and it will insert it automatically in the appropriate input fields. Moreover, the book's author, genre and publisher will be added automatically in their tables.

Pros

You can add a wide range of information to individual book entries. The software can also retrieve information about a book and create a new entry automatically, which can spare you from typing. DJOBooks doesn't need to be installed, it does not use too many resources and its functions are very easy to understand.

Cons

You can't mark books as loaned or create a wishlist. With the smart functionality provided by DJOBooks, huge books collections can be cataloged and organized in just a few minutes, without any effort.
